Grindelwald Terminal is a very modern transport hub that connects two valley stations with the regional train station. The terminal was built in connection with the so-called V-project of Jungfrau Railways in the years 2018 to 2020

  • The Grindelwald Terminal combines the valley stations of the cable cars Eiger Express and Gondelbahn Grindelwald Männlichen.
  • Directly from the terminal you have half-hourly connections to the Bernese Oberland Railways (BOB) via the new Rothenegg station to Interlaken.
  • 1000 parking spaces in the parking garage, which you can book online.
  • From the terminal in Grindelwald you can reach the Eiger glacier and the Kleine Scheidegg ski area in just 15 minutes.
  • At the Eiger Glacier you get connection to the Jungfrau Railway and reach the Jungfraujoch in only 45 min from the Grindelwald terminal.
  • The cable car takes only 19 minutes from the terminal to the Männlichen mountain station. At Männlichen the view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau is particularly impressive.
  • A bus terminal connects the Grindelwald terminal with the valley station to the Firstbahn.
  • Rental boxes incl. heating for ski equipment or large backpacks make multi-day adventures from the Grindelwald terminal easier.
  • A shopping center in the terminal offers clothing and equipment for rent. You can also buy souvenirs and typical Swiss products here.

Train station and parking garage

The terminal ensures short distances and fast connections from Grindelwald to the Eiger Glacier, Jungfraujoch and Männlichen. The Grindelwald Terminal is very well connected with the surrounding area via regional trains and buses.

The Grindelwald Terminal includes two cable car valley stations. The Bernese Oberland Railways station (Rothenegg station) is directly connected to the terminal, as is the parking garage. In level 4 of the parking garage you can also charge your electric car.

In the Grindelwald terminal you will also find a shopping center that carries top international brands. There is also a sports store where you can rent clothing and equipment. Swiss quality products are also offered in the terminal. You will find the following stores in the terminal:

Ski depots

Two ski depots in the Grindelwald terminal contain more than 500 locker systems. They are heated, ventilated and illuminated. The lock can be opened and closed as often as you like during the rental period.

In one ski depot there is space for:

  • 2 helmets
  • 2 pairs of ski boots
  • 2 pairs of gloves

There are two ski depots at the terminal

  • Ski depot A 7:30-18:00 open
  • Ski depot B open 24/7

If you need a ski depot for the whole season, you pay 299 CHF. With an existing Top4 pass or a season pass of the Jungfrau Ski Region you pay 199 CHF

Arrival to Grindelwald Terminal

Grindelwald, as a traditional vacation region, is equipped with an excellent transport network. The Grindelwald Terminal is located just under 500 m northwest of the Grindelwald Grund train station at Grundstrasse 54. Buses run regularly to other train stations in Grindelwald and Grindelwald Grund.

Public transport

From Interlaken Ost you can reach the Grindelwald Terminal in only 30 min with the Bernese Oberland Railway from Interlaken-Ost station. The regional train R61 runs every 30 min to and from Grindelwald Terminal.

From Bern it takes about an hour with a change of trains in Interlaken Ost and, depending on the connection, in Spiez.

By car

The journey by car from Interlaken Ost also takes about half an hour The parking garage in Grindelwald Terminal offers 1000 parking spaces and is conveniently booked online. Entry and exit is via a QR code.

By car, you are also an hour away from Bern and take the same route as the train along Lake Thun. At Interlaken airport, turn off in the direction of Grindelwald.

Cable cars from Grindelwald Terminal

There are two cable cars from Grindelwald Terminal. The latest cable car is the Eiger Express, which halves the journey time compared with the original route by cogwheel railroad to the Jungfraujoch. If you prefer a more leisurely ride, you can take the cogwheel train from Grindelwald Grund to Kleine Scheidegg as before. The price is the same, by the way, regardless of which way you take. The mountain railroads run in Grindelwald all year round (except the Pfingsteggbahn).

The terminal is open daily from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. In the second week of November (revision of the cable cars) the terminal remains closed

The shopping center opens Coop & Intersport this week from 08:00 - 18:00.
From the third week of November, the shopping center is generally open from 8:00 to 18:00

The stores Dr. Portmann, Lindt and Kirchhofer open from 10:00 - 17:30.

Activities on the Eiger Glacier

Even the spectacular ride in one of the brand new cabins of the Eiger Express from Grindelwald is an unforgettable experience. At the Eigergletscher you can hike in summer and ski or sled in winter. With the Jungfrau Railway you can get from here to the Jungfraujoch

Activities at the Jungfraujoch

You take the Jungfrau Railway through the north face of the Eiger to the highest railroad station in Europe on the Jungfraujoch. At Jungfraujoch you have direct access to the Aletsch Glacier. On the "roof of Europe" you have arrived at 3454 m above sea level. The Sea of Ice, the Ice Palace, the Alpine Sensation, the Jungfraujoch Plateau with a view of the Aletsch Glacier and other attractions await you here.

Activities at Männlichen

At Männlichen you have easy to difficult hiking trails at your disposal. The panorama trail to Kleine Scheidegg is considered a particularly beautiful viewing path. The Sennen playground with the 8.5 m high Sennen cow is just as tempting as summer tobogganing with a Gemel or paragliding. In winter you can go skiing and snowboarding, sledging and snowshoeing
