With its dramatic surroundings, Lake Walen is reminiscent of a Norwegian fjord. It is located in Heidiland and is bordered to the north by the hiker's paradise of the steeply towering Churfirsten. The lake has a deep blue color and is fondly referred to as the "Riviera of Eastern Switzerland". The hiking and mountain bike trails around Lake Walen are characterized by magnificent waterfalls and gigantic views. In winter, the nearby ski resort of Flumserberg beckons.
