Courtelary is located in the Bernese Jura mountains, around 20 km northwest of Biel. The historic center contains well-preserved buildings from the 18th century and narrow streets. This gives the town an inviting atmosphere. The medieval castle of Courtelary dates back to the 13th century and is the former residence of the bailiffs of Erguel.
