Golden Pass Line ticket from Lucerne or Montreux

You travel with the Golden Pass Line ticket either from Lucerne to Montreux or from Montreux to Lucerne. The train has especially large panoramic windows for a particularly impressive view.

Your journey goes from lake to lake. In addition to Lake Geneva and Lake Lucerne, there are a total of six other lakes along the way. You even travel along a longer stretch of Lake Brienz and Lake Thun.

You also have a particularly impressive view of the mountain giants Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau as well as many other mountains in the Alps. Three passes alone are crossed, including the Brünig Pass at 1008 m above sea level.

The Golden Pass Line is divided into several sections:

• Montreux - (Zweisimmen) - Interlaken
• Interlaken - Lucerne

You have to change trains in Interlaken. Depending on the connection, another change is necessary in Zweisimmen. However, there are also trains that pass directly through Zweisimmen. The entire journey between Montreux and Interlaken takes about 5 hours.

• Spiez
• Interlaken
• Brienz
• Meiringen

Practical information:

• There are no power sockets and no WLAN on the trains
• The Montreux-Zweisimmen train has a bar / car service that sells drinks and snacks.
• A bistro bus operates between Interlaken and Lucerne. It offers drinks, snacks and meals.

There are three classes on GoldenPass trains: 1, 2 and Prestige. The luxury version is "Prestige" with especially huge panoramic windows, heated seats and elevated seats. For this purpose, the floor has been raised by 40 cm. This gives the guest the very best view.

However, 2nd class also has panorama windows. First class offers above all more space. In terms of price, it differs only minimally from the Prestige class. So if you're thinking of traveling in 1st class, it's well worth choosing Prestige class right away.

Between Montreux and Interlaken:

• The Golden Pass Express between Montreux and Interlaken is not yet wheelchair accessible. However, this is planned from December 2023.
• The Lucerne Interlaken Express is a wheelchair-accessible low-floor train with barrier-free toilets
