The small village of Brienzwiler with about 500 inhabitants is located in the Bernese Oberland. It is located at the foot of the Wilerhorn on a hill above Lake Brienz. Historic wooden houses are still preserved in the village. The view from here goes to the Brienzer Rothorn and the Wilerhorn over Brünig to the Haslital. The settlement of Amhof, which lies further down in the Aare valley under a steep cliff, also belongs to Brienzwiler. The Ballenberg with the largest open-air museum in Switzerland is the most important sight in Brienzwiler. More than a hundred original historic buildings from all parts of Switzerland are on display here.
